Daniel E. Forman, MD

Daniel Forman is a cardiologist and geriatrician, who has championed the field of Geriatric Cardiology with particular focus on preserving function in older adults with cardiovascular disease. He is a tenured Professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, with faculty appointments at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. He is the Director Emerging Therapeutics at the University of Pittsburgh’s Aging Institute, and Director of Translational Research at the Pittsburgh GRECC (Geriatrics Research Education and Clinical Center). He is also the Director of the VA Pittsburgh’s Cardiac Rehabilitation program. His research includes gerotherapeutic initiatives to improve bioenergetics and physical function in older adults, as well as multiple initiatives oriented to cardiac rehabilitation and exercise training in older adults.

Dr. Forman has previously served as Chair of the American Heart Association Older Populations Committee, and he was the inaugural Chair of the Geriatric Cardiology Section of the American College of Cardiology.
