Kathy Magliato, MD, MBA, FACS

Dr. Magliato is one of the few female heart surgeons in the world and specializes in heart/hung transplantation and ventricular assist device implantation. Currently, she is an attending staff surgeon at Providence St. John’s Medical Center in Santa Monica, CA and the Past President of both the Los Angeles County and Western States Regional Board of the American Heart Association. In addition to her 17 years of training as a cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Magliato received her MBA at the UCLA Anderson School of Management and is the Founder, CEO and CMO of a medical device company that is developing a diagnostic cardiac technology that serially assesses changes in vascular health. She holds 34 patents in 17 countries. Dr. Magliato is a nationally recognized expert on heart disease in women and has been featured extensively in the media including shows by Barbara Walters, Martha Stewart, Oprah Winfrey and John Oliver. Her memoir, Heart Matters, made the New York Times Bestseller list for both electronic and print formats and was made into a scripted medical drama, Heartbeat, on NBC in which Dr. Magliato was played by actor Melissa George.
