Murat Sonmez

Murat is the Co-Founder and CEO of Pulsora, a purpose-built SaaS platform to help companies define, capture, improve, and disclose their sustainability and ESG footprint. Founded in 2021, and with more than 500 companies on its platform, Pulsora has been adopted by leading companies worldwide in a variety of industries. Murat realized the need for such a platform during his tenure as a member of the Managing Board of the World Economic Forum (WEF) between 2014 and 2021. In 2017, Murat was the founding head of the WEF’s global Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) network. Now operational in 18 countries with 22 centers, the C4IR is a public-private collaboration platform to help establish forward looking, inclusive, and ethical governance of technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, synthetic biology, digital currencies, quantum computing, and autonomous systems.

Prior to the WEF, Murat was a co-founder of TIBCO Software in Palo Alto, California and as head of global operations, led the company through IPO and over $1 billion in revenue. Murat started his career in Silicon Valley as a software engineer in 1989 helping automate many of the world’s leading semiconductor fabs. Murat holds a BS degree in Industrial Engineering from Bosphorus University (Istanbul, Türkiye) and MS degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Virginia Tech.
