Jared W. Magnani, MD

Dr. Jared W. Magnani is an Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh with tenure and a general cardiologist at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He directs an NIH-funded research program that identifies and addresses social determinants of health in disadvantaged patient populations. The aims of his program are to: (1) investigate the contributions of social determinants and health literacy towards cardiovascular outcomes; (2) develop innovative interventions to improve health outcomes for at-risk individuals with cardiovascular disease; and (3) identify critical gaps in the application of contemporary health technologies for the promotion of health equity. He has had long-standing involvement in the AHA, including chairing the AHA statement on health literacy and cardiovascular disease; serving on the Social Determinants of Health Committee; the Statistics Committee; and Council Operations Committee.
